Suppressed Thoughts of an Introvert
You cannot truly form authentic connections with others if you are not always operating in your uniqueness. I have been on this journey my whole life, and now, at thirty-two years old, I feel I am finally in a place of reflection and unlearning.
What you will get from this book is a series of moments that had a tremendous impact on me throughout my life up until now. You will get some key moments from my childhood right into adulthood and an explanation of how each event shaped my thinking. Are you ready? There are five chapters. Chapter 1 talks about no longer being apologetic for being an introvert. Chapter 2 talks about where I am now, after all the self-reflection, and it explores the thoughts and inner battles I had that ultimately led to those situations not going as well as they could have. Chapter 3 gives deeper background on some events in my life that shaped my thinking about myself and inflicted on me a lot of trauma that no child should ever need to endure. As I was stuck in survivor mode, I did not realise how self-destructive my behaviour was. I thought I was doing OK, but I was only surviving. Chapter 4 delves deeper into my journey of having low self-esteem. Having low self-esteem is probably one of the most destructive places you can be mentally, as you never realise it straight away.
But when you do, you need to remember that no matter where you get to in life, no one will ever believe in you more than you need to believe in yourself. When you finally exude belief in yourself, it will be your biggest superpower. Lastly, chapter 5 talks about the ways in which my life has changed and how I actively put disciplines in place to ensure that I remained accountable in new areas. You can use this book as a tool to understand that your journey is unique and so your main focus needs to be understanding yourself a little bit more each day. Also, it can help you be happy with the steps you are taking daily to become a better you with no outside judgement. There are some self-reflective questions scattered throughout the book to support your self-empowerment journey. Remember, feeling different also contributes to your ultimate superpower, but you need to believe.
